ISO has invited ISACA members to comment on their exposure draft of the revised Software Asset Management Standard (ISO/IEC19770-1).

Addressing market requirements, the update incorporates new annexes with cross references to industry good practices – including COBIT. It also allows for attainment in four tiers to facilitate the standards adoption. The tiers are linked directly to the processes described in the 2006 standard, providing greater accessibility to the standard and the newly incorporated annex guidance.

This draft is only available to official ISO liaison organizations like ISACA. Special permission has been obtained from ISO for wider distribution of this draft than normally permitted by the ISO standards development process. Reviewers may also provide up to five detailed comments to be included in the revision process for the updated standard.

The exposure draft feedback period ends on 1 March 2011 and results are scheduled to be published in May 2011. Reviewers who provide contact details will be offered a summary of the feedback.
