ISACA Adopts New Logo and Tagline—FAQs |

One reason ISACA began rethinking its branding was because the name does not reflect the growing number of information security professionals in the membership, and the increasing importance of providing information security programming and research to members. ISACA chose to address this issue, not through a name change, but by broadening its definition of the constituency. For many years, ISACA has identified its niche by listing the types of professionals to whom it provides value: those involved in IT audit and assurance, IT control, information security and IT governance. However, it has become clear that, in ISACA’s view of its professional world, all those professionals fall under the IT governance banner. Each one of those positions has an important role to play in ensuring that effective governance is exercised over IT on an enterprisewide basis. Therefore, ISACA chose to make it very clear that its purpose is to serve that broad range of professionals. As of 1 January 2006, ISACA chapters and international headquarters will be required to brand themselves as ISACA, using the new tagline and logo versus the former logo that spelled out “Information Systems Audit and Control Association.” The new design should be reflected on all printed and electronic materials as of 1 January 2006.
Yes. ISACA’s graphic design firm will prepare new chapter files with the logo, chapter name and tagline in a scalable format for each chapter. As chapter president, you will also receive an updated graphic standards manual with instructions on how the logo should be used. You can expect to receive these items in the upcoming months. Yes, all web sites and other materials must be changed by 1 January 2006.
ISACA has engaged the services of a translation firm and will translate the tagline into the primary language used on your chapter’s current web site and will provide you the logo with the translated tagline, as mentioned earlier.
Yes. ISACA HQ will reimburse chapters up to US $500 for costs associated with the logo change. To be eligible for reimbursement, chapters will need to submit actual receipts for the costs associated with changing the logo and/or new materials purchased (e.g., banners and signage) and will need to ensure the new logo is properly reflected on the chapter’s website. Yes. Normally, ISACA sends out a marketing package to all membership directors in October. Changes are being made to all international headquarters brochures and new stock will be sent to chapters prior to 1 January 2006, along with the new logos and the graphic standards requirements. No. Since this is a branding-related issue and not a name change, changes to your local bylaws and bank accounts will not be required. |
